Antirobe is a brand name oral antibiotic prescribed for a range of bacterial infections in cats and dogs. Veterinarians use this powerful antibiotic to treat abscesses, infected wounds and dental infections caused by bacteria including Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp.

If your dog or cat has a serious infection in her mouth, soft tissue, skin, bone or near the bone, your pet’s veterinarian may prescribe Antirobe. This powerful medication contains the antibiotic clindamycin, which is highly effective against a range of susceptible bacteria that cause infection including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. and Clostridium perfringens. The medication works by penetrating the bacteria and halting the process that allows it to grow and reproduce. Antirobe is very effective against soft tissue infections and also useful for treating mouth infections including gingivitis and periodontitis. Antirobe is available in capsule or liquid formulation. How it works

Antirobe penetrates to the source of the bacterial infection. It inhibits bacteria by suppressing protein synthesis and growth.

Indications:

Antirobe (clindamycin hydrochloride) Capsules (dogs only) and Antirobe Aquadrops Liquid (dogs and cats) are indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms in the following conditions:

Dogs

• Skin infections (wounds and abscesses) due to coagulase positive staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus or Staphylococcus intermedius). Deep wounds and abscesses due to Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella melaninogenicus, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Clostridium perfringens.
• Dental infections due to Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella melaninogenicus, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Clostridium perfringens.
• Osteomyelitis due to Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella melaninogenicus, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Clostridium perfringens.

Cats

• Skin infections (wounds and abscesses) due to Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus intermedius, Streptococcus spp. Deep wounds and abscesses due to Clostridium perfringens and Bacteroides fragilis.
• Dental infections due to Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus intermedius, Streptococcus spp., Clostridium perfringens and Bacteroides fragilis.
